The Arab Horse Society is the United Kingdom breed authority for the registration, promotion and welfare of the Arab horse.
Founded in 1918, the Society is a registered charity and promotes the breeding and importation of Pure Bred Arabian horses and to encourage the wider use of Arab blood in light horse and pony breeding.
The Society publishes Pure Bred Arab and Anglo Arab Stud Books and maintains a register for Part Bred Arabs. It also operates a Premium Scheme to promote the use of Arab blood in performance horses.
Each summer the AHS plays host to the National Arabian Championship Show - the largest show of any equine breed in Europe. The Show takes place at the Three Counties Showground at Malvern in Worcestershire over 3 days on the last weekend in July.This year it takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday 29th-31st July 2010.The Society also organises the British Arabian Championships, a show established to promote the Arab horse as a gelding, both as an in hand and a ridden horse and amateur owners/breeders.

An AHS Welfare Officer oversees the welfare representatives from the Society’s Regional Groups and maintains files on current and past cases involving the welfare of Arab, Anglo Arab and Part Bred Arab horses in liaison and consultation with the leading national and equine welfare charities such as the RSPCA, HAPPA, ILPH, Red Wings, and also local charities.
The Society has a Regional Group organisation with shows, training, social activities and sales support.
'The Arab Horse Society News' is published bi-annially, a journal sold both nationally and internationally. The News is sent free to members and is also available for purchase by non-members.
The Society organises seminars for the training of judges (both In Hand and Ridden) and for members of its Disciplinary Committee. These seminars are open to candidates who wish to become judges as well as members who just want to learn more about the Arab horse, its type and conformation.
A comprehensive library is maintained at the Society's office in Windsor House which is open and available for use by members.
Membership to the AHS provides Personal Liability Insurance up to £2,000,000 and Personal Accident Insurance up to £10,000 (2010 only). These insurances are offered by a major insurance provider and are subject to certain restrictions and exclusions.
The Society liaises with international Arab organisations and is a member of the World Arabian Horse Organisation and the European Commission of Arab Horse Organisation and sends representatives to meetings of these and other bodies.
